When you returned, there had been someone waiting inside Eridan's hive for him. You didn't see the person at first, until he turned on a light.
"Aaah!" He yelled, jumping behind you.
It was Nepeta, and she was surprised to see you.
Really though, you were surprised to see her without her moirail anywhere around. But who knows, chances are he's waiting outside for her.
"Hi Eridan!! And... ___!" She said happily jumping up from her seated position on Eridan's couch. Eridan peeked out from behind you.
"Nep? I thought wwe said it wwasnt gonna wwork out," Eridan said quietly.
"I thought maybe we could try again?" She giggled. "How are you, ___?"
"I feel like my heart's chewed up and spit back out a few times, but other than that, fine." You smiled at the tiny troll, and she smiled back.
"Listen Nep, can wwe talk outside maybe?"
"Sure!" She jumped up, following Eridan, but not before waving a quick goodbye to you. You waved back with your brows furrowed, before walking in further to Eridan's hive.
You soon found Eridan's room, looking at his sopur slime longingly. You could use a sleep right now, but would it maybe be a little bit creepy? You decided it wouldn't, and climbed into it.
Eridan soon returned and saw you sleeping in his slime. He debated for a second whether he should climb in with your or not, and decided he wanted to.
You woke up with his arms wrapped around you, making him the big spoon, and you the little spoon. You accidentally woke him. He rubbed his eyes and sat up.
"So what did Nepeta want? Or, what did you say?" You asked immediately.
"She asked for a second chance at doing this relationship thing. I told her that I thought it wasn't smart to restart a relationship at this time,"
"I should get going...." You commented, getting out of the slime and stretching your body, cracking all your bones in the process. It was a sickly sound.
You heard Eridan pipe a small "Don't go," but when you asked what he had just said, he blushed and turned away, saying nothing.
Right as you were about to leave, Eridan bounded to you and opened his mouth to speak, but instead closed it. He did it again, and you furrowed your brows, wondering what he had to say.
"I lied," He finally said as you were tugging on your boot.
"Lied about what?" You asked carefully. A thousand thoughts raced through your head. What if he didn't really like you? What if he actually hated you? What if...
'Stop and calm down ___, gog dammit.' You told yourself.
"About wwhat Nep said,"
"What did she say?" You asked.
"Wwait, I mean, wwhat I said, in reply to Nep."
"What did you really say?" You asked carefully, tears forming in your eyes. You tried to hide it, keeping a straight face, but you saw Eridan notice them.
"I told her I'd like to givve "us" a second thought," He finally spoke.
Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't fucking cry.
"I'm glad for you!" You smiled the best you could, and Eridan's face lit right back up.
"Really?" Eridan said with stupidest grin on his face.
"Yeah!" You lied.
He hugged you tight, before setting you out the door. The moment his hive door clicked shut, the tears came flowing down your face, but you didn't make a sound.
Just be happy for him. You said to yourself. If you really love him, the most you could do is be there for him, and be happy for him. One day, this'll all blow over, ___, just you wait and see.
Except it didn't.
It's been a sweep now since you left Eridan's place in tears. Him and Nep were happy together, red rom for each other the entire time. You were happy for them. After a little bit of sorting out your problems, you and Eridan were moirails. You were happy with that.
Sometimes, he'd take you out for troll ice cream. For no reason. You loved it when he did that. You'd lay in his lap and he'd braid your hair the best he could. Which, well, wasn't very good, but you'd wear it like that for the rest of the day.
One night, Eridan had pesterchumed you, telling you to come to his place immediately. The first thing you noticed was door. It had three slash marks in it. You knew who made them. When you walked in the door, his place was completely wrecked.
You saw Eridan then crying in the middle of his hive. You rushed over to him and shooshed him, trying to stop the tears. You didn't ask what happened. You didn't say a word. His hive explained the entire thing. You held him, rocking him back and forth. At 8 sweeps old, you understood hardships better than anyone, well, that's what you thought at least.
You could see the flecks of purple beginning to appear in Eridan's eyes. Oh gog, he looked beautiful. You smiled at this, and he asked you why you were smiling.
"Because I never really thought about how old we were getting. The purple is starting to come out in your eyes." You brushed his hair back off of his face, looking down at his head relaxing in your lap.
"Really?" He asked, cracking a smile onto his face. "Yours are takin shape too,"
You blushed and covered your face. "You're lying!" You exclaimed.
He sat up and faced you. "No, no I'm serious, look in the mirror or somethin!" He looked concerned, thinking he had offended you.
"I don't doubt you, silly!" You took your hands away and smiled at Eridan. His expression of concern fell as he huffed out a big breath and smiled, looking relieved.
"I guess I owwe you an explination, huh?" Eridan said.
"No, you don't, but you're completely free to tell me about what happened." You replied with sincerity.
"I realized somethin' today, ___. And I told Nep, and wwell, this happened." Eridan looked to the ground, and fiddled with his thumbs a bit.
"Oh gog, it must've been really bad if she did this to your place. I thought she was nice?" You replied.
"She normally is, wwhen you don't get her mad like I did." He paused for a moment. "I told her I...
